H appy and excited.
Not exactly how I expected to feel after Covid-19 and social distancing reached our shores. After all, it meant cancelling book launch parties, events at bookstores, presentations. Every author with a new book out this spring is languishing. I rebooted my launch activities, but things still didn’t feel very optimistic.
But now there’s wonderful news. The Library of Legends has been chosen as one of five novels for Book of the Month Club’s April selections.
BOTMC’s in-house editors read hundreds of books each month. They have a track record of vetting for quality and picking books their members love. This validation is just mindboggling. Their reputation for making good recommendations has earned them more than 770,000 followers on Instagram. So if nothing else, it's a great opportunity to get The Library of Legends some visibility with a lot of readers. Oh and get this: BOTMC print their own hardcover editions!!! They're sending me one by mail soon!!!
If not for Covid-19 there would be a very loud house party going on right now at my place. With all-you-can-eat dim sum. I’d even let my husband play Gimme Shelter by the Rolling Stones at top volume. Repeatedly.
Thank you so much to everyone at Book of the Month Club. I can only imagine how hard it's been recalibrating your business logistics so that you can ensure the safety of your work force while getting books out to your housebound subscribers. Thank you everyone at William Morrow and HarperCollins Canada for believing in The Library of Legends.

Hi Janie! I decided during COVID to subscribe to Book of the Month. There were great options to choose from, but the one that immediately caught my attention was “The Library of Legends.” I knew it was the choice for me because it was listed as romance/ historical fiction and had elements of Asian mythology. To say that I really enjoyed this novel is an understatement. I loved the character development, the lore, and the different character perspectives. It was very difficult to set this book down and once I finished it, I had to order your other two books. I’m really excited to start reading them! Job very well done!
Thank you so much for your kind words! The story means a lot to me because it’s based on my father’s experiences as a refugee student. I hope you also enjoy THREE SOULS and DRAGON SPRINGS ROAD, which also draw from family history.
Congratulations Janie, fabulous inspiring news!
Thank yo, Yvonne. Stay safe over there.
Fabulous as always, Janie. Can’t wait til your book arrives! We ordered it as soon as you announced it’s birth. 🙂
Thank you for your support and frienship, Lee! Hope you’re all keeping well.
So thrilled for you Janie! Love in the time of Corona. We are joining you in our own happy dance here at Second Nature. Now more readers will find out about your magnificent books too.
Thank you so much Elizabeth. Some much-needed cheering news.
